Hurricane Michael

Environmental Health and Safety is collecting information to support property insurance claims and FEMA aid related to Hurricane Michael. It is important that all losses are properly documented. To help the University recoup every possible dollar of loss resulting from Hurricane Michael, the following information will need to be collected:

  • Building name, number, address, and room number or location of damage-building information can be found here: https://www.facilities.fsu.edu/space/buildings/index.php (below are links of FSU Maps to identify Building Number)

  • Brief explanation of the damage (cause of damage and type of damage)
  • Photographs of damages
  • Photographs of completed repairs/replacement
  • Estimate of the cost to repair or replace the damages
  • Record of all work hours (regular and overtime) dedicated to storm Preparations, Responses, and Repairs (estimates if repairs are ongoing)
  • Additional information, for example contracted services, or other expenses (save all invoices, purchase orders, and proof of payment to outside vendors related to storm response and recovery)

At this time, EH&S is collecting information to prepare the initial applications and will be developing the appropriate documents to submit to FEMA and our insurance carrier. If you have any damages from Hurricane Michael please contact Amanda Boor (aboor@fsu.edu or 645-7736) to be added to the claim process. As the claim moves forward, EH&S will be following up with contacts to collect all necessary data throughout the process.

It is imperative that all potential claims be identified, so please pass this information throughout your area. If you have any questions or need additional information please contact Amanda Boor.
